Question from Ann - 16th century herbalism

Hi, I'm looking for information please about herbalism during the 16th century,in particular pain relief (if any) after injury on the battlefield or after a duel by sword or dagger.
Thanks in advance.

Ann, if you have access to a large university library, use their computers to access the subscription-only database "Early English Books Online" (http://eebo.chadwyck.com/home). You cannot access it without a subscription, so you will need to find a library that has subscribed.

Once on the site, use the Keyword or Subject Word "herbal" to find a lengthy list of books from the period that describe what herbs treated what malady. The site provides scans of the actual books, so you will be reading from an actual 16th century text.

Good luck!
