(This lady isn't quite mid-sixteenth century but she may be the one you're asking about. She died circa 1540).

Jane's maiden name was Ormond. She was also known as Joan. She was the third wife of Sir William Fitzwilliam (1460 - 1534). When she died, she asked to be buried in the church of St. Thomas the Apostle.

There is further information on this Jane on the website "A Who's Who of Tudor Women" under "Jane or Joan Ormond." These entries were compiled by Kathy Lynn Emerson.

Thanks so much for your response, but the one I'm looking for seems to have still been alive at least in Edward VI's reign.
