I am looking for a book and I was hoping someone here could help me. I'm looking for a book that would give detailed information about court life. The various Lords, their duties, the break down of households and how positions were made available. I'm looking for something very detailed and very accurate. I want to understand not only how the goverment broke down but how a royal household broke down for Kings, Queens, Dowager Queens, ect.
I was also looking for a book the gave an overview of all of England during Tudor times. Political and Religious climate, agriculture.
I know these are probably very different books :)
Any help is greatly appreciated

I liked "Henry VIII, the King and his Court". Very detailed, but maybe not enough for what you are looking for.

Author Alison Sim have written a lot of book on the different aspects of Tudor's life . ( I love her books, and find them enjoyable)

Intrigue and Treason: The Tudor Court, 1547-1558
Henry VIII: Court, Church and Conflict . Both books are by historian David Loades and you can likely find them in your local library.
Henry the VIII by Alison Weir has a brief but informative description of the breakdown of court and how positions are filled. It is early in the book. Also, you could take a look at her source list and find some leads there.
