Question from Sarah - Executions in Edward VI's reign

Hi,
I was wondering mainly if Edward VI executed any people during his reign and if so under what orders and sentences were they punished for.

Thanks

Sarah

I would like to know the answered to that question as well. I know that Edward VI sent his uncle Thomas Seymore to the execution block for treason, but I still do not know the whole facts. Like was Thomas Seymore really guilty? ,and why wasn't Thomas Seymore allowed to plead his case directly to the king? (..beside the whole treason rule, I mean aferall he was Edward's uncle). Who else was executed while Edward VI was king?

I think that It is associated with the fact that Seymour was trying to get married to Elizabeth and was trying to make himself popular. In fact he was giving the king a bad name.

And don't forget that he also signed the execution warrant for another of his Seymour uncles - Edward the Duke of Somerset. Although that was, as far as I can remember, orchestrated by John Dudley.

Luv, also, don't forget that Edward was furious with his uncle the Admiral because he had stolen into his room and killed his favorite dog in his attempt to kidnap him. I'm pretty sure that has guilty written all over it.

I have found a website that may be of some help to you:

http://englishhistory.net/tudor/monarchs/edward6.html

If you scroll down about halfway down the page just next to the picture of Katharine Parr, there is quite a lot of information about Thomas Seymour and the events leading up to his execution. I hope you find it interesting!!!

Thanks for the information on Thomas Seymore. Does anyone know why charges of treason was brought against Edward Seymore ,besides the fact that they wanted to get him out of the way?

John Dudley wanted him out of the way and convinced Edward VI that Somerset wasn't doing the best job. Edward was mad at his uncle because Somerset didn't allow him to do anything, didn't give him any money, and wouldn't let him help rule.
