Question from Larry - Henry VIII doctor named Salmon
I watched a youtube video called "Inside the body of Henry Vlll". There was a photo of physicians who attended the king. One was labeled X.Salmon. I was curious if there was a doctor named Salmon who looked after him?

"X Salmon" probably stands for Christopher Salmon, variously described as a valet, groom or barber to Henry VIII (and later to his son Edward VI). "Barber" meant one who let blood, so this may be why he is standing in company with Henry's doctors. "X" stands for "Christopher," as the Greek letter chi, the first letter of Christ, corresponds to our X in transliterations of the period.
