Question from Guy - Total number of Henry VIII's children

How many children did Henry VIII have in total?

[Of course, depending on who you ask, this will have a range of answers - see all the previous questions regarding possible illegitimate issue of Henry VIII - Lara]

Henry VIII recognized four children as his own-- Mary I with Catherine of Aragon; Henry Fitzroy illegitimately with Elizabeth 'Bessie' Blount, Elizabeth I with Anne Boleyn, and Edward VI with Jane Seymour. Differing people believe he may have had more children with various mistresses that he never publicly recognized, but for absolutely sure he had 4.

Possible illegitimate children include: Thomas Stucley, John Perrot, Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon, Catherine Knollys, Ethelreda Malte and Richard Edwardes, see their Wikipedia articles for more information.

Catherine of Aragon's Wikipedia article also mentions 5 who died as babies, and Anne Boleyn is meant to have had a stillbirth and a miscarriage.

He had a survivng child each with his first three wives, but none with his last three wives.
