Question from Hannah - Rich and Poor

What evidence is there of the rich and poor in the Tudor period?

Though this is a very vague question, I will try to answer it. "Evidence of the poor" can be found in local parish registers for the Elizabethan period. Parishes (church districts) were required to assess a poor tax and to distribute the proceeds to persons in need. They kept registers of how much money went to whom and why. For the rich, there are many household account books and inventory lists that show how much money they spent and what they owned. I hope that helps.
