Question from Julia - Anne Boleyn book receommendations

Hi!
I'm 22, from Brazil and I'm studying Anne Boleyn for a theatre project. At first I wanted to find a diary or something she wrote but, unfortunately, according to my little research (which is beggining now) she does not have one.

I found some letters and it is really going to help but I wanted to ask if you could recommend some books about her. I found out that there's a million books but I don't know what I should read because I don't know what's true and what's not or in which books I could trust. It is really important to have all the information right.

I tried to find it in google or ask people but no one knows what to say.

Sorry if my english is kind of a mess and thank you so much for this website!

[Book recommendation posts are frequently asked questions, but it never hurts to post some again with all the new works coming out every year! - Lara]

The foundational works on Anne Boleyn are Eric Ives's "The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn" and Retha Warnicke's "The Rise and Fall of Anne Boleyn: Family Politics at the Court of Henry VIII." You cannot go wrong by starting with those two books.

Eric Ives' "The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn" is probably the best choice if you want "all the information right". If you want a simpler account to start with you could try Elizabeth Norton's "Anne Boleyn: Henry VIII's Obsession". Elizabeth Norton has also edited "The Anne Boleyn Papers", a collection of her letters and of ambassadorial reports where Anne is mentioned.

I also think it is worth getting Claire Ridgeway's book on Anne which you can buy via The Anne Boleyn Files, an excellent website dedicated to Anne

To get a earlier view of what people thought of Annew Boleyn I suggest you read Anne Boleyn;A chapter of English history by Paul Friedmann. Other good books that have a different view on Anne Boleyn are "Anne Boleyn "by Marie Louise Bruce, and The challenge of Anne boleyn by Heater W. Chapman.
