Question from Lily - Gender history dissertation ideas

Hi,

I'm currently a 2nd year History student and I have to submit my dissertation proposal by April.

However I'm really stuck between a couple of ideas. I'm particular interested in gender history and/or the tudors.

I was thinking along the lines of how the cultivation of the virgin image enhanced Elizabeth's monarchical authority? Something to do with Elizabeth or maybe was Elizabeth so successful because she was protestant with comparisons to her other female counterparts?

Or a bit different, I wanted to look at gender in Weimar Germany but I wouldn't know where to start.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

You could look at the varying depictions of women in the arts (theatre, film, paintings) of Weimar Germany and maybe explore the origins/reflections in the socio-politcal context.
