The Tower of London was the site of a royal menagerie, or zoo, off and on for several centuries. Exotic animals were kept there until the 1800s. Many of the animals were gifts from foreign kings and princes. At different times, there have been animals as large as lions and elephants in the Tower. There is a good book that you can get that will give you lots of information: "The Tower Menagerie: Being the Amazing True Story of the Royal Collection of Wild and Ferocious Beasts," by Daniel Hahn (Simon and Schuster Publishing, 2003). As to what large animal Henry VII (did you mean Henry VIII?) kept there, that book will tell you, I am sure.
