Question from Camille - Elizabeth I, Mary I and Mary QOS' tombs
I visited Westminister Abbey several years ago and was absolutely astonded at the placement of the tomb of Elizebeth I being in a crowded area compared to where and how the tomb of Mary Stuart's was placed.!! Also it seems that James gave his mother's tomb more precedence then Elizebeth who placed him on the thrown. Also, why were Elizebeth & Mary placed in the same tomb when they disliked each other? It seems like a joke played on them by James. The docet at the Abbey couldn't give me an answer except to say that James had it done after Mary's tomb collapsed....is that true? It just seems that Elizebeth deserved better.

Question from Alice - Contemporary comments on Mary I
Hi
For my homework (due on Monday 21st Nov!) I need to find two contempory comments supporting the nickname given to Mary 1 (Bloody Mary). These I have found.
However, I also need to find two not supporting the nickname. In other words, comments supporting Mary 1 herself. These I have a problem with and cannot find anywhere. Please could you help me???
Many thanks.

A few general comments and tips
I've received a few questions over the past few years though the old set-up that were very easy to answer with a very quick serach through google or your search engine of choice. I don't want to turn this into a big rant or anything (for those, go see my personal blog in the future!) but I have to wonder why people are going through the trouble of submitting a question here (which might not get posted right away) to answer a simple question?
Some examples are -
Q: How long did Katherine Parr live after Henry VIII's death? A: Pretty easy to figure out.... go to the Henry VIII page and see when he died, then go to the Katherine Parr page and see when she died and do the math. I do intend to add the link to the search engine for the site to every page, so maybe this will help out when these types of questions.
Q: Who fought in the Wars of the Roses? A: Okay, not "the Roses", like in that movie from the 80s... But a quick search on Google or Wikipedia will give the answer. One helpful thing for getting the information you are looking for is to put quotes around your search term, e.g. "Wars of the Roses". It should help narrow down the results.

Welcome to the Tudor Q & A Blog!
Hello and welcome to the newest part of TudorHistory.org!
As some of you already know, I've had a Query Page set up for a few years now that allowed people to send me questions to post and (hopefully) get answers from other readers. I developed it as a way to deal with the questions that I just don't have the time and resources to answer. The only problem, of course, was that I had no way of knowing if the questions were getting answered, and other readers were probably wondering about some of the same things.
I still think that the best way to get your questions answered by a group of knowledgeable people is to join the Tudor Talk email list, but I know that some people have various reasons for not wanting to do that. Another alternative was for me to set up a message board. I have been playing around with that on and off and have never quite come up with a solution that I liked. Then it struck me that the best "in between" answer to the old page and a message board was to make it a blog. Since I have had success with using Blogger to publish to the site with the News and Updates blog, I decided to develop this Question and Answer blog.
Enjoy, and I hope some of you are able to find this useful!
