Question from Anon - Consequences of Henry VIII's excommunication

Did the Pope invite English people to rebel and foreign rulers to invade when he excommunicated Henry the Eighth?

    If the Pope had encouraged rebellion against the King or invasions, then there would probably have been a huge war in the mid-1530s. This is not the case, as I would have known if it was.
