Can't help with Suffolk, I'm afraid, but it's an interesting list of business for that day. The Queen (Anne Boleyn, who has only weeks to live) to get Henry's grandmother's old place at Colley Weston, and the 'sturdy poor' look as if they are in for yet another bashing ...
I think Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk was banished from court for secretly marrying Henry VIII's sister Mary, without Henry's permission. Such an act was considered treason, so he was lucky not to have been executed. Eventually he was forgiven and the marriage was made official.
Parliament met on February 4, 1536 to begin the dissolution of the lesser Monasteries. Henry VIII also gave Norwich Place to Charles Brandon in exchange for Suffolk House on this date.
This is just a guess but the exchanging of properties between Suffolk and Henry makes me think it might be some sort of financial debt he was pardoned for. Like I said though this is just a guess.

ReplyDeleteBrandon and Mary married in 1515 - she died in 1533, so if he was in trouble in 1536 it must have been over something else.
