Question from Morgan - Information on portrait of Elizabeth I

I was wondering if anyone had any information on this portrait, apparently identified as Elizabeth I: http://i44.tinypic.com/2cs9low.jpg

This is where I originally found it:

It doesn't give much information, and I've never seen it before, although it does remind me strongly of this portrait:

  1. The portrait has been discussed elsewhere on this website, both in the Q&A section and on the blog page, though I cannot now find the links to either discussion. The portrait is quite similar to one recently exhibitied at Montacute House as well as to a newly identified Tudor family portrait that included Will Somers, Henry VIII's fool. The woman in all of those portraits is strikingly similar, and all are thought to authentically depict Elizabeth I before 1547.

  2. Yeah, the does look like it might be a copy of the color one in the last link. That one is usually said to be from the early part of Elizabeth's reign as queen (the NPG lists it as c. 1560). Some of the details are different, but the main pendant looks very similar.

Here is another version of that portrait (the x-ray is particularly interesting):

BTW, here is the link to the Elizabeth as Princess image we discussed previously:

Morgan, I think the first link you gave more closely resembles this portrait instead:
