Question from Angus - Henry VIII's friends early in his reign

When he was a young man (18-26) did Henry have many friends close to him in age?

If so who were they?

  1. Charles Brandon comes to mind, but he was a few years older.

When Henry was younger, he also had a whipping boy. I can’t remember his name? I do remember Edward's whipping boy was Barnaby Fitzpatrick and he loved him dearly...but that probably does not help you.

  2. I know that Henry and William Compton were friends early on, and eventually Charles Brandon joined. I believe even Carey (Mary Boleyn's husband) and Henry were good friends when he was younger.

  4. Cardinal Wolsey, Thomas Knyvett, Charles Brandon and Lady Elizabeth Bount were some of the most important. Look for all of them at :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Tudors_characters
