Question from Emma - Tudor Christmas carols

Hello

I was hoping someone would know if there are any christmas carols around today that the tudors first sang??? I know the tudors were one of the first to sing christmas carols but i can not find out what they actually sang.

Thankyou

Em

  1. "Green Grows the Holly" is one I found, but you can read about carols here:

I think you will find that most of the music we associate with Christmas Carols post-dates the Tudor period.

The Christmas Revels programs have lots of music that is performed in Tudor style or dress, but I cannot vouch that it is truly from the period.
