Has anyone ever found any proof of the rumour that Anne Boleyn had 6 fingers? There are so many suggestions either way, I can't seem to find a straight answer.
Anne Boleyn did not have a sixth finger. None of the (many) eyewitness accounts mention it, even the very hostile and specific ones, like those made by Francisco Sanuto in 1532. The first time the legend of the sixth finger/tip malformation appears is in a work by a Jesuit historian in the 1560s and 70s; but he also alleged that Anne had warts, a third breats and other deformities which made her hideous. This was used to prove Sander's theory that Anne was a witch and a satanist and, as such, her body was as corrupted as her soul.
