But she was seldom at Court in the years immediately following her return (1515.) They gained in popularity after 1522, when Anne Boleyn returned as a debutante. By the time she became the King's fiance, in 1527, the fashion had already spread even to those who would politically come to hate her. The portrait/miniature where Katherine of Aragon appears to be wearing a French hood is actually a Juliet cap, something quite different.Gareth Russellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09102113677858015813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16981893.post-45085043815540023982009-04-19T18:44:00.000-05:002009-04-19T18:44:00.000-05:00I have a piggy-back question for this... In the portrait of the young Katherine of Aragon, and indeed in the two pictures of Mary here, the sitter seems to be wearing a French hood. Is this not specifically French, but more of a basic head-covering / headdress?Katlyn R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05467229901889393041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16981893.post-41447978797983972632009-04-19T14:35:00.000-05:002009-04-19T14:35:00.000-05:00There's another pciture believed to be of Mary her...There's another pciture believed to be of Mary here:http://home.earthlink.net/~elisale/childhood.html

It shows a rather serious looking girl in a red dress.
