Question from Michael - Humphrey Barroll, page to Elizabeth I

Does anyone have anymore details on Humphrey/Humffrey Barroll/Barrell who is recorded as page to Queen Elizabeth 1 at his marriage at St. Mildred (Bread Street) and St Margaret Moses church, London on 7 January 1596/7 to Martha Boteler. He was buried at All Saints church, Isleworth, London in May 1627.

  2. Humphrey Barrell's brother Walter was a Salter in St Margaret Moses parish, London; and in 1597 Humphrey married Martha Boteler there, she being a daughter of John Boteler and Cresset St John of the Bedfordshire St Johns. [register is on internet archive] Barrell had at least three children, one of whom, Gilbert, was an attorney, a member of Clifford's and Lincoln's Inn, and gives more info about the family in a 1660s visitation of Middlesex. Gilbert was quite a character.
