Question from Moira - Burial place of John Dudley

In her book 'Elizabeth and Leicester', Elizabeth Jenkins states that the body of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, was buried some while after his execution in the Beauchamp Chapel in St Mary's Church Warwick. I have visited the Beauchamp Chapel on several occasions, and, as far as I am aware, the only tombs there are those of Robert Dudley, Lettice Knollys, Robert Dudley (the 'noble impe'), Ambrose Dudley and Richard de Beauchamp. I had thought that John Dudley was buried in St Peter Ad Vincula at the Tower of London. Can anyone enlighten me?

Question from Lisa - Building an authentic Tudor dollhouse

I'm starting to build a tudor dollhouse, and I have so many questions? I'm into making things look historically accurate, and this one is a 'country tudor' and can be found here

http://www.realgoodtoys.com/index.php?PATH=display.php&id=88&type=dollhouse

I think it's absolutely charming. instead of using shingles for the roof, I'm going to thatch it, and the timbers are going to be a darker brown (like the tar covered kind).

But how should I finish the walls on the inside? What kind of floor options do I have? How about the furnishings? Should the fireplace be made from brick or stone or just timbers? I'm probably going to have the fireplace cut out from the wall and then make it bump out into an added lean-to or closet or something of the likes. Is the inside of the house just the backside of wattle-and-daub or did they finish it? So many questions. And would someone in this house have a chamber pot, or just go outside in a covered hole in the ground? Anything would help! Thank you!

Question from Kiran - Cures and remedies

I am doing a project about Tudor 'cures'and remedies... It doesnt have to work, actually, the weirder the better!!! I am thirteen, still at high school, so nothing too complex please!!!

[ed note: yet more Tudor medicine - I'd love to see some examples that people can find for this one though, so that's why I'm posting it even though it sort of repeats previous questions... I'll try to look through some of my books tomorrow too, head cold permitting]

Question from Carlyn - Elizabeth I personal details

... a children's book I am writing called, "ROYAL RAUCOUS, royal rumors and myths throughout history." The age range is 7-12 and it is scheduled to be released in 2008 with Houghton Mifflin. I am giving you this background information because I know my questions are going to sound silly, but they are designed to get a younger audience interested in the people who changed history. (I call it: history lesson meets tabloid magazine). I have a page debunking myths about Elizabeth I. There are two that I am struggling with:

1. Is it true that Elizabeth was afraid of mice?

2. Is it true that Elizabeth swore like a truck driver and inherited her father's temper?

Question from George - Letter from Anne B. to Henry from the Tower

I am led to believe that most scholars dismiss the letter said to be from Anne Boleyn to Henry from the Tower. Can anyone point me towards a book or article where the authenticity of the letter is considered?

Question from PlusHeureuse - Primary sources on the Dissolution

I am doing an essay about the ease with which H VIII dissolved the monasteries but am struggling to find many actual sources to help me to support this, mostly information seems to be in the form of the opinions of historians from which is is difficult to discern any actual evidence. The arguments all seem to be pretty simple and obvious but i would really apprecaite some advice on where to look for evidence that might help me make this essay well supported and accurate. Thanks.

Question from Victoria - Amy Robsart and Robert Dudley's relationship

Do you believe there ever was love between Amy Robsart abd Robert Dudley when they were first married and before he became favored by the Queen. I read one account that the marriage began very happily, and another account that said it was a contractual marriage and they were hardly ever together. Thanks.
